Patients at Dharmanagar District Hospital in North Tripura are facing significant difficulties as the CT scan facility, inaugurated with much fanfare by former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, has been unable to provide scan plate for over a month. In absence of the services, the patient are facing much inconvenience.
Since February this year, the hospital outsourced its CT scan services to a Kolkata-based company, Sanjivani. However, the company has stopped supplying CT scan plates due to non-payment of bills amounting to several crores. In a written notice, Sanjivani hospital stated that it would cease extending the services of due to non-payment of outstanding bills.
According to sources, critical patients are being given plates, while others receive digital copies of scans on their phones or nothing at all. They claim they have not received any payments from the hospital since the beginning of their contract.
Medical Superintendent Bhaskar Das acknowledged the issue and mentioned that a letter had been sent to the company demanding a resolution, but no response has been received. He labeled the company’s actions, including the notice and the suspension of services, as illegal and assured strict measures to address the situation.
