Lovelorn married woman makes second successive attempt to commit suicide, under treatment in GBP hospital

A lovelorn married woman , mother of a son, made a bizarre attempt to commit suicide by jumping down from the 1st floor medicine ward of the GBP hospital at Agartala yesterday. She survived without any major internal injury and is currently under treatment in the hospital. Police sources said that Shankari Majumder (28), wife of police constable Subrata Majumder (32) of Hrishyamukh area of Belonia and mother of a son, had been admitted to the hospital for treatment of certain ailments. Her husband Subrata Majumder who is posted in Srinagar police outpost in Belonia was also with her and the couple went to the nearby roof of the medicine ward . After reaching the roof Shankari suddenly made an attempt to jump down, wriggling out of the grip of her husband and fell down below.
A number of people including her husband rushed to the spot and rescued Shankari in injured condition and got her readmitted to the hospital bed where the doctors examined her and said that she had suffered no serious internal injury but was in a deeply depressed condition. Gathering details of the background of the case police sources said that recently Shankari had fallen in illicit love with the private tutor of her son. She was however caught and last month she made an attempt to die by poison but was saved by her husband and in-laws after undergoing treatment in the Belonia hospital. But the Belonia hospital authority had referred her to GBP hospital for treatment .
Speaking on the issue a medicine specialist in the GBP hospital said that Shankari had some psychological problem for which she made two successive attempts to commit suicide. The doctor said that Shankari might have made two successive attempts to commit suicide from shame after her illicit relation with her paramour had come to light.
