KVK, Sepahijala holds Field Day on Paddy

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sepahijala, CAU (I), Tripura organized Field Day on Paddy at Gakulnagar, Bishalgarh block, Sepahijala Tripura during 20-21st November, 2024 with an objective to showcase the importance of integrated pest management, System of Rice Intensification (SRI), high yielding varieties and biocontrol agents. The programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Anupam Mishra, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, CAU, Imphal. The programme was organized under the guidance of Dr. A. K. Mohanty, Director, ATARI, Zone-VII, Umiam, Meghalaya; Prof. Ph. Ranjit Sharma, Director of Extension Education, CAU (I), Manipur; Prof. Arun Bhai Patel, Dean, College of Fisheries, CAU (I), Lembucherra, Tripura and Dr Shatabhisa Sarkar, Sr Scientist & Head of this KVK.
At the outset of the programme, Dr Utpal Dey, SMS (Plant Protection) briefed about the scientific cultivation practices of paddy, package and practices, SRI, identification of different disease and insect pests, role of pheromone traps in pest management, insect light trap, and ecologically based integrated pest management approach etc.
Ms Puja Debnath, Agriculture Officer, Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, O/o Superintendent of Agriculture, Bishalgarh, Govt of Tripura encouraged the farmers for cultivation of high yielding paddy variety and their management practices.
Shri Gautam Das, Agriculture Inspector, Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, O/o Superintendent of Agriculture, Bishalgarh, Govt of Tripura accentuated on the importance of SRI and briefly narrated on different Govt schemes.
Mr Bikash Das, Gakulnagar shared experience on the growing high yielding paddy variety under SRI with application of different bioagents. He is getting yield about 5.5-5.8 t/ha. Twenty interested farmers, farm women, rural youth were actively participated in the programme and discussed on different issues related to paddy.
