Mortal remains of martyred Shubhankar Bhowmik , Naike-Subedar of Indian army, received at airport by CM and governor

The chief minister Dr Manik Sarkar and governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu remained present in the airport as officers of army this evening received the coffin bearing the mortal remains of Shubhankar Bhowmik (37), a Naike-Subedar of Indian army who had died in a mishap in the Siachen glacier area in Kashmir on the night of Monday , that is November 18. Shubhankar, the second among three brothers , and resident of Birganj area in Amarpur subdivision, had joined the Indian army in the year 2009 as a jawan and risen to the rank of Naike-Subedar.
It was on Monday night that Shubhankar had been returning to his camp, eighteen thousand feet above the sea level, after completing his duty in the Gelesia area of Siachen. On the way back to the camp Shubhankar suddenly fell under a huge chunk of snow that had slipped from above but could not get out. His mortal remains with clotted blood was recovered by the army jawans posted there yesterday and was sent by a coffin to Agartala .
The governor of Tripura Indrasena Reddy Nallu and chief minister Dr Manik Saha offered floral tributes to Shubhankar Bhowmik in the coffin, followed by senior army officials . The coffin has been sent by an army vehicle to Shubhankar’s home in Birganj area of Amarpur from the airport. Sources said that Shubhankar is survived by his parents , wife and a daughter. He had come home during ‘Durga Puja’ in October this year and was expected to come again next year. His elder brother Dipankar Bhowmik is at service in the CRPF.
