District Magistrate West Tripura Dr Vishal Kumar on Thursday said that a baseline study had been conducted to identify gaps and fix them to ensure that 21 schemes benefits can reach the saturation levels in identified tribal blocks. Speaking to the media persons, Dr Kumar said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the PM DAJGUA scheme on Friday, virtually, that speaks for implementation of the 21 centrally sponsored schemes to the saturation level. The central event will be organised at Agartala where Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha and Union Minister for DoNER Jotiraditya Scindia will also remain present.”

According to the District Magistrate, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the scheme from Jamui, Bihar, where the central event of Janajatiya Gaurav Divas will be held to mark the birth anniversary celebrations of Bhagwan Birsa Munda. The occasion is observed through multiple events to remember the contribution of the legendary freedom fighter to the Indian freedom struggle.

“On this occasion, the speakers will shed light on the initiatives of the government undertaken to uplift the socio-economic condition of the tribal society. The special focus will be one PVTGs—Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups—in our state the Reang Community has been identified under this category,” he added.

On being asked as to how many people would benefit from the new scheme, he said, “In West Tripura district around 1.25 lakh people will reap the dividends of the scheme. Multi-pronged efforts which include school infrastructure improvement, road connectivity, electrification, installation of solar grids, Jal Jeevan Mission etcetera will be undertaken in the selected villages. Some families are set to receive multiple benefits as they qualify in parameters set by the government.”
