Tipra Motha Party MLA Chittaranjan Debbarma, representing the 47-Ambassa Assembly constituency today reiterated the long-pending demand of setting up a government medical college in his constituency. The MLA was speaking at an event organised to donate an ambulance to the Ambassa Primary Health Centre from MLA Area Development Fund.
He said, “The ambulance, purchased at a cost of Rs 8 lakh has been donated for service for the people. The people of remote areas will be immensely benefit from the ambulance.”Speaking to the reporters after the event, Debbarma expressed his grave concerns over the lack of health infrastructure and human resource to provide healthcare services in the area.
“As the larger share of the population is living in hilly areas, rapid medical response for the patients becomes a difficult task. With this new ambulance service, people of my constituency may get some relief,” he hoped.Debbarma also disclosed his plans to raise the issue of establishing a government-run medical college in Dhalai District at the upcoming state legislative session.“A medical college is the need of the hour for the people of Dhalai district. It should not be a public-private partnership (PPP) but a fully state-funded facility so that poor people are served. It will act as a solution to many problems,” he added
