A quack doctor pretending to be an expert healer of health complications like diabetes was exposed in Chailengta area. The imposter identified as Prasanna Das, reportedly, owns a medical shop just opposite to the Chailengta government hospital. Apart from running his shop, he had been running a parallel business of giving paid consultation to patients suffering from health complications.
On social media platforms, he had presented himself as a specialist in the field of diabetes, a health complication every third person in their 40s is suffering from in the state. Exposing his falsehood, one of his former patients Bikash Chandra Das today lodged a police complaint with the Chailengta police station.
Speaking to media persons, Das said, “On social media I came to know about Prasanna Das and his expertise in curing patients suffering from Diabetes. In search of a remedy to my problems, I booked his appointment and followed his instructions. After consuming the medicines he had prescribed, my health deteriorated dramatically.”
He later lodged a complaint with the Chailengta police station seeking strict action against the fake doctor. “I was not aware of his qualifications at first hand. Later, I came to know that he was ditching people and had no qualification to prescribe medicines. This is why I have lodged an FIR with the local police station,” he alleged.
Speaking on the issue, SDPO Sona Charan Jamatia said, “We have received a complaint against Prasanna Das. He owns a medicine shop. The complainant alleged that he had also been prescribing medicines. We shall initiate a thorough inquiry into the matter to ascertain whether the accused was adequately qualified to prescribe medicines or not.”
The police official also revealed that the District Drug Inspector had raided the house of Das and seized some documents recently. “We are collecting all the information and accordingly steps will be undertaken against the accused person,” added Jamatia.
