Security beefed up at Matabari ahead of Deepavali

More than 1,800 security personnel including Tripura Police, Tripura State Rifles and Central Armed Forces will be deployed in and around Tripura Sundari temple for three-day long Deepavali fair and festival.“We have drawn up a full proof security arrangements for the festival and fair starting from October 30 next. We are expecting a gathering of seven to eight lakh devotees during the festival and fair. The main Puja will be performed on October 31 and that day highest footfall of devotees is expected,” said SDPO Udaipur Ajay Debbarma.

Speaking on the detailed security arrangements, Debbarma said, “More than 1,800 security personnel will be posted in different locations. A total of 28 temporary naka points will be set up in different parts of the state. Apart from that, additional CCTV cameras will be installed in 10 to 12 locations surrounding the temple’s sanctum sanctorum. In six places, we will set up police assistance booths.”

According to Debbarma, several rounds of review meetings on the security front were conducted ahead of the festival. “If required more force will be mobilised to ensure safety and security of the devotees arriving at the temple for participating in the festival,” he added.
