Communal tension flared in Pekucherra, Panisagar subdivision of North Tripura, prompting the government to impose prohibitory orders under section 163 of BNSS and suspend internet services for 72 hours. The unrest began after a Shiva temple was allegedly attacked by miscreants, sparking outrage among the Hindu community. The incident quickly spread on social media, fueling further tensions.

In response, there were reports of attempts to target local mosques. To prevent the situation from escalating, a large number of Tripura State Rifles personnel and police were deployed in the area. North Tripura's Superintendent of Police, Bhanupada Chakraborty, also rushed to the scene.

Prohibitory orders were enforced to prevent any major flare-up, and internet services across North Tripura were suspended following an official notification by Dr. Pradeep Kumar Chakravarty, Secretary to the Tripura Home Department. The order restricts mobile internet, SMS, and press messages under Section 52 of the Indian Telegraph Act, 1885, with violations punishable under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.This incident follows a recent communal clash in Kadamtala, another part of North Tripura. Meanwhile, the Director General of Police removed SP Bhanupada Chakraborty from his post, assigning him to Police Headquarters. The SP of Dhalai district has taken additional charge of North Tripura.
