Dacoity and rape of house-wife , cash and gold ornaments looted, anarchy in Kadamtala and Churaibari area of north Tripura

A near anarchy seems to have gripped large areas under minority dominated Kadamtala and Churaibari police station areas of Dharma Nagar subdivision of north Tripura. While incidents of dacoities and loot of cash and valuables from households have become almost regular phenomenon in these areas, the dacoits have now started raping hapless housewives in households where menfolk remain absent.

The latest such outrage has happened in Ward no-4 of Phulbari panchayat under Kadamtala bock but under Churaibari police station on the night of September 12. According to delayed information that reached here, a gang of dacoits stormed into the house of Abbas Mia in the Ward no-4 of the panchayat, taking advantage of the absence of the house-owner who was outside in connection with his works as a mason. The dacoits looted Rs 20 thousand in cash kept in the house and a few gold ornaments, having broken into the house through the doors and windows on the backside. Before departing the dacoits also raped the wife of Abbas Mia even though her children were in the room and left.

On the next day the lady told informed her neighbours and her husband who had returned home in the morning of every thing and said that she had identified one of the dacoits who was Nuruddin , son of late Sadeq Ali, her next door neighbour. After receiving information police came and took notes but failed to trace out Nuruddin who had fled his next door home. Later the Abbas Mia and his wife filed a written complaint with the Churaibari police station with specific names and addresses but there has so far been no arrest.

Sources from Churaibari area said that it is because of the incompetence and inertia of police personnel of Churaibari and Kadamtala police station that crimes like thefts and dacoities have registered a steep rise in these police station areas . A section of the policemen are also in league with the criminals in lieu of the booty and that is why they never try hard to nab the culprits , sources added.
