The ‘Maharani Tulsibati Trust’ today organised a voluntary blood donation camp in the Bhagwat Singh Yuba Awas to celebrate the 74th birth anniversary of prime minister Narendra Modi. Even though the day had passed yesterday the programme was organised today amidst much enthusiasm among participants as well as the audience. Those present on the occasion included the chief minister Dr Manik Saha, DM (west) Dr Vishal Kumar and the president of the MTV Trust Bipin Debbarma. Altogether 50 persons voluntarily donated blood for preservation by the GBP and IGM hospital authorities.

Addressing the audience before commencement of the donation programme, the chief minister Dr Manik Saha described voluntary blood donation as ‘the noblest deed and gift to humanity’. “The division of blood groups and their transfusion into human bodies prove one thing drastically; it is the controvertible fact that the entire humanity is essentially one and the barriers of race, caste and creed that we create are artificial ; it is important that we remember this cardinal fact” said the chief minister.

He also spoke of Tripura’s emergence as one of the few states in the country that depend on voluntary donation for transfusion to patients in the exigencies of circumstances. “The principle of India is ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’-that is , the entire world is our relatives and blood brothers ; so we have to co-exist together in a perfect brotherly relationship and blood donation on voluntary basis is the means to achieve this; we donate precious blood but we do not know who will be its beneficiaries” said Manik.

He called upon the people to come forward for voluntary blood donation as that will be the best gift that one can give. Dr Saha also quoted from the ‘Upanishads’ to say that there is saying in Sanskrit “Sarve Bhabandu Sukhina , Sarve Santi Niramaya, Sarve Bhadrani Pashyantu , Ma Kashchit Dukkha Bhag Bhavet”. This means “ let every one be happy, let every one be cured and healthy, let every one see only the positive and let no one be sick or hopeless”. He thus inspired people to come forward to donate blood voluntarily. The chief minister also briefly dwelt on the life and achievements of prime minister Narendra Modi and his immense service to the poor and needy people.
