TPCC President Asish Kumar Saha files FIR against BJP leaders including union minister for foul comments against Rahul Gandhi

In compliance with the policy guideline of the AICC, the Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Asish Kumar Saha has today filed a complaint with the West Agartala police station against the defamatory and provocative comments made by BJP MLA of Maharashtra Sanjay Gaikwad, union minister Ravneet Singh Bittu , BJP ex-MLA of Delhi Tarvinder Singh and UP BJP minister Raghuraj Singh against party’s supreme leader and leader of the opposition in Loksabha Rahul Gandhi. He has requested the officer in charge (OC) of West Agartala police station to treat his complaint as FIR and launch investigation against the four persons he had complained against.

During his recent sponsored visit to USA Rahul Gandhi made certain controversial comments falsely citing the alleged insecurity of the Sikh community and other alleged faultlines of Indian democracy. But this sparked strong reaction in India , particularly among the Sikh community. Reacting to this the Maharashtra BJP MLA Sanjay Gaikwad declared a prize of Rs 11 lakhs for anyone who will be able to cut off and produce to him the tongue of Rahul Gandhi. Similarly the Sikh union minister Ravneet Singh Bittu , former Sikh BJP MLA of Delhi Tavinder Singh and UP BJP minister Raghuraj Singh lashed out at Rahul Gandhi charging him with anti-national utterances on foreign soil and citing the massacre of 3800 Sikhs in Delhi and other parts of the country post-assassination of prime minister Indira Gandhi in October 1984. The AICC termed the comments not only as defamatory but also as intended to harm Rahul Gandhi.

In his letter of complaint TPCC president Asish Kumar Saha also cited the fact of the assassination of Rahul’s grand mother and former prime minister Indira Gandhi by her Sikh body guards and the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi by the LTTE suicide bombers. He charged that a similar conspiracy is on to physically harm Rahul Gandhi by BJP as well as to defame him and tarnish his image. He demanded immediate investigation into the comments made by the BJP leaders and their arrest in the interest of justice.
