In a subtle jab, Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Sah referred to Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman as a "switch-off leader."

Speaking at a party event in Udaipur, Dr. Saha commented, "The Congress now has just three members in the state assembly, yet even within this small group, there's no unity. One of them spends all his time on the phone, day and night, conducting his entire political affairs through it. But when the moment of responsibility comes, he switches off his phone. This is why he’s earned the nickname 'switch-off leader."'

Dr. Saha's remarks alluded to Barman’s brief tenure with the BJP before being removed from the state council of ministers. Barman had attempted to spearhead a rebellion against then Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb but was unsuccessful in winning over the party’s leadership. He eventually left the BJP, leaving many of his followers in a difficult position. Most of the BJP members who had supported Barman were disappointed with his decision to switch loyalties to the Congress. Barman also changed his phone number during this transition, leading to the "switch-off leader" label from the BJP.

Dr. Saha further criticized Barman, accusing him of aligning with the Communist Party just to safeguard his assembly seat. He stated, "Those who have worked closely with him and his family are cast aside once they are no longer needed. I noticed a lot of new supporters with him today, but I urge them to consider his past actions carefully."

Labeling Barman as untrustworthy, Dr. Saha added, "He constantly strikes different poses for the media to attract public attention, but his lies have now been exposed for everyone to see. From the Panchayat level to the state level, the BJP has delivered on good governance, and the people of Tripura have acknowledged our achievements."
