Before the polls, BJP candidates won unopposed in 71 percent of the Three-tier Panchayat polls in Tripura. And after the release of the results of the polls, it is now seen that the BJP candidates have won in an average of 90 percent of the seats.

The number of Gram Panchayats in Tripura is 606. Total seats are 6370. Of these, the BJP won nearly 4,000 seats unopposed. Total number of Panchayat Samiti is 35. It has 423 seats. Out of this, BJP had won 235 seats before the polls. All the seats of the 116 Zila parishad seats have been voted. And BJP candidates have won 113 seats of Zilla Parishad.

It is reported that BJP candidates won unopposed in 96 percent seats in Tripura Three-tier Panchayat Election 2019. But this time it was not possible. This time the ruling BJP won unopposed in only 71 percent seats. And after the release of the final results of the polls, it is now seen that the BJP candidates have won an average of 90 percent of the seats.

After taking the vote on August 8, the counting was completed on August 12. But so far the State Election Commission has not published the full results on its website.

According to the sources of various political parties, the BJP alone has won 5940 seats in the Gram Panchayat! Their fellow Tipra Matha candidates won 102. Congress and CPIM, the two allies of the opposition alliance 'India', won 141 and 147 seats respectively.

Out of 423 Panchayat Samiti seats, BJP had won 235 seats before the polls. Out of 423 panchayat samiti seats BJP won total 405 seats, Congress 8 and CPIM seven and Tipra Matha and non-party independent candidates won the remaining seats.

Also, out of 116 Zilla Parishad seats, BJP won 113, Congress 2 and CPIM 1. Only Gournagar in Unakoti district, Sonamura in Seapahijala district opposition parties did some good results.

Notably, there are 6889 seats in Gram Panchayat, Panchayat Samiti, Zilla Parishad in Tripura.

The opposition Congress and CPIM state leadership alleged that since the immediate announcement of Three-tier panchayat polls, the BJP has continued to terrorize opposition party candidates. Therefore, the opposition could not field candidates everywhere. Many candidates submitted their nomination papers but withdrew their nomination papers fearing attacks on their homes. A CPIM candidate for a Zilla parishad seat in South Tripura district was murdered in July before the panchayat polls. But the real criminals have not been caught yet. In such a frightening situation, naturally the leaders and workers of the opposition party's have been soundly defeated by the ruling party in this panchayat poll.
