Former Union Minister Pratima Bhowmik claimed that the state's rural areas witnessed a massive development since the BJP-led government came into power in 2018. She was addressing a public meeting organized at Moylak village in Amarpur to support the BJP candidates for the coming panchayat elections.

She said the BJP government has given stress for the overall development of the villages and constructed rural roads to improve communication in the interior areas of the state. It has brought a large number of women under self-help group programs and all of them are now self-reliant. She said rural people are beneficiaries of this entire project and the government is planning to expand this program to involve the remaining sections of society.

She said this government has started procuring paddy at minimum support price which comes as a big help for the farming community. She said the Prime Minister has undertaken many other schemes for the development of the rural economy and doubling the income of the farmers.

She said the government has brought a large number of people under the Prime Minister Awas Yojana and this facility will be extended to many others after the new panchayats are formed.
