Octogenarian BJP leader Rasik Ranjan Goswami no more, grief and mourning all around

Veteran BJP leader Rasik Ranjan Goswami (85) who had played a pioneering role in expansion of BJP and VHP’s base in undivided North Tripura district is no more. He had felt physical unease on Tuesday evening and was admitted to a nursing home in his home town of Dharma Nagar but the veteran man breathed his last that very night. Rasik Ranjan Goswami who had unsuccessfully contested three consecutive assembly elections from the Dharma Nagar seat in 1993,1998 and 2003 was also a president of the BJP district committee in North Tripura for many years and then vice president of the party’s state committee. He is survived by his only son and only daughter who are well settled in life.

As the news of Rasik Ranjan Goswami’s death spread an air of grief and mourning gripped the entire BJP party structure as the veteran man had worked hard to strengthen the base of the party in the undivided North Tripura district. The BJP state president Rajeev Bhattacharjee expressed his condolences to the family of late Rasik Ranjan Goswami and described his death as ‘irreparable loss’ to the party.

Rajeev Bhattacharjee said that late Rasik Ranjan Goswami had worked as a teachers in the Deenanath Vidya Mandir of Dharma Nagar with a good reputation and at the same time he had started working for the BJP and VHP.He was a president of North District Committee of BJP from the year 1992 to the year 2000 and was a vice president of state BJP from the year 2000 to 2006. His pioneering role as BJP leader in North Tripura was recalled by party leaders yesterday in a meeting of the Pradesh Committee where one minute’s silence was observed to pay respect to the memory of Rasik Ranjan Goswami. Many in the party however regretted that Rasik Ranjan Goswami’s son and daughter were meted out step-motherly treatment after BJP had come to power in Tripura in the year 2018.
