New tactics of theft from jewellery shops in the town, Shyam Sundar Jewellery affected

Despite heightened security in shops and business establishments in the town, specially jewelleries, the thieves have also started innovating newer methods to steal things and valuables from them. This has come to light from an incident of theft from the famous jewellery shop of the town ‘Shyam Sundar Company’ on July 13. A man had entered the shop that day with an imitated bangle and ring in his pocket. On the pretext of seeing a new golden bangle and ring in the shop the man replaced the new and pure ones in the shop with his imitated and fake items and left the Jewellery without purchasing anything.

The matter soon drew attention the shop-owners and after checking what had happened in the CCTV camera the shop owner reported this to the East Agartala police station. The officer in charge of the East Agartala police station Rana Chatterjee took up the case and identified the thief from the CCTV footage . Finally the thief named Rajat Saha (30) was caught by police from the Malaynagar area of Agartala. He confessed having committed the theft and the stolen items were recovered from his possession. Rajat Saha is being produced in court today.
