BSF ADG (Eastern Command) on two day visit to Tripura, to specially take stock of measures for prevention of infiltration from Bangladesh

The BSF ADG of Eastern Command (Calcutta) Ravi Gandhi arrived here on Friday last to take stock of the border security situation in the context of rapidly rising infiltration from across the border in Bangladesh. He was given a guard of honour by IG, BSF (Tripura Front) Patel Pijush Purushottam Das . The Tripura BSF IG also briefed ADG Ravi Gandhi of the situation along Tripura’s 856 km long border with Bangladesh and what else needed to be done to plug the loopholes in the border divide and fencing. All major border problems were also discussed in the IG’s meeting with visiting Ravi Gandhi.

Apart from this, the BSF ADC met the chief minister Dr Manik Saha , chief secretary J.K.Sinha and DGP Amitava Ranjan. On the second of his visit yesterday the BSF ADG Ravi Gandhi visited the BOP in Boxanagar along with Tripura BSF IG Patel Pijush Purushottam Das and to part in a conference with the jawans. He also issued instructions to the jawans on how best to guard the border and prevent infiltration from across the border. He directed the field commanders to be specially careful in guarding the border besides speaking to villagers along the border areas and taking their opinion on various aspects of life along the border. ADG Ravi Gandhi also assured the villagers that BSF authority will extend all kinds of co-operation to them. Official sources here said that the BSF ADG’s visit had been necessitated by recent spurt in infiltration from Bangladesh into Tripura.
