Niti Ayoga's SDG Tripura ranks sixth in the country on the development index

Despite challenges, Tripura ranks sixth among the countries in meeting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Tripura has emerged among the record progressing states in various measures related to poverty alleviation, decent employment, economic growth, climate.

According to the NITI Aayog, 15 goals have been included in the list of SDGs prescribed by the United Nations. Among these, Tripura's progress in various government initiatives like Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Ujjwala, Swachh Bharat, Jandhan, Ayushman Bharat-PMJAY, Ayushman Arogya Mandir, PM-Mudra Yojana, Start-up India etc. is very good.

According to the SDG launch year data in 2018, while the country's overall SDG score was 57, it reached 66 in 2020-21 and further improved to 71 in 2023-24. SDG scores by states in 2018 ranged from 42 to 69 across states. It increased from 57 to 79 in 2023-24 and increased to 67 in 2023-24. Next is poverty alleviation (order-1). In this case the score increased from 60 to 72 during this period. In terms of the states of the country, ten states have come forward in the first row. These include Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Odisha, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu.

Among the fastest growing states from 2018 to 2023-24 is Uttar Pradesh (up 25 points or places) followed by Jammu and Kashmir (up 21 points), Uttarakhand (up 19 points), Sikkim (18 points), Haryana (17 score) followed by Assam, Tripura and Punjab. Each of these three states has a score of 16, followed by Odisha and Madhya Pradesh (progress by scoring 15).

Niti Aayog on 12 July 2024 released this index for the fourth edition of SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) i.e. 2023-24.
