‘Tipra Motha’ supremo Pradyot Kisore show-caused for ‘Facebook’ post by CEO Puneet Agarwal

In a new twist to the ongoing Loksabha election process in Tripura, the chief electoral officer (CEO) Puneet Agarwal today has issued a show-cause notice to the ‘Tipra Motha’ party supremo Pradyot Kishore asking him to remove a ‘Facebook’ post immediately as well as to explain why action should not be taken against him for for violating the ‘Election Code of Conduct’ . Pradyot has also been directed to ensure that his explanation reached the CEO office by 2-00 PM today. Whether the explanation has reached the office of CEO in time is not yet known.
In the ‘NOTICE’ issued by the CEO Puneet Agarwal, it has been mentioned that yesterday in the evening , that is 18th April evening, Pradyot Kishore posted a comment in ‘Facebook’ which has been termed by the CEO in his notice as vilolation of electoral code of conduct as social media is also included in the barred forum for making comments and speeches for influencing voters. “the matter is prima facie found to violate the electoral laws… it is clear from your said message that your appeal is to a particular community to vote in favour of a particular party” said the ‘NOTICE’ sent by CEO Puneet Agarwal to Pradyot Kishore.
It is not yet known whether Pradyot kishore has removed his ‘Facebook’ post and furnished a reply to t he notice to the CEO’s office by 2-00 PM today , as directed. In the event of failure to do so the election commission is duty-bound to take appropriate action against him.
