Major ‘Ganja’ (cannabis) haul recovered by Melaghar police, tribal civilian arrested

The police in Melaghar under Sonamura subdivision pulled off a major success in recovering a big stock of contraband ‘Ganja’ (cannabis) hidden in a pit in the residence of Chaitramohan Debbarma in Indrakumar para area under Melaghar police station. Acting on a tip-off a police party led by officer in charge of Melaghar police station Debasish Saha raided the house of Chaitramohan Debbarma and recovered 240 kgs of dried ‘Ganja’ from a pit behind his residence. The market value of the seized ‘Ganja’ is about Rs 8 lakhs. Police sources said that a case under NDPS act had been registered against Chaitramohan Debbarma. The officer in charge of Melaghar police station Debasish Saha said that anti-drug and anti-cannabis operations will continue in the entire Melaghar police station area without any interruption.
