In what appears to be a bizarre and unexpected incident, the poll graffiti of BJP like flags , festoons and flexes were uprooted and removed by unknown miscreants in Indira colony area of Melaghar under Sonamura subdivision last night. The local leaders of ruling BJP alleged that the supporters of Congress-CPI (M) combined had committed this mischief. Shortly after receiving information about the dumping the councillor of Ward no-9 of Melaghar municipal council Malek Mia and the Indira colony booth president Mukunda Das as well as other party office bearers visited the spot and saw the dumped posters, festoons, flexes etc in a local pond of Indira colony. Having seen what happened last night the Melaghar municipal councillor Malek Mia said that a complaint will be filed with the election commission over the issue , pointing out the mischievous activities of the opposition Congress-CPI (M) combine workers.

In another intriguing incident the workers and local leaders of ruling BJP blockaded the Belonia-Barpathari road last night. Why this sudden road blockade had been launched was not made clear by the BJP leaders and workers except a statement that the election commission had been making mistakes. But when the media persons reached the spot the two leaders of BJP’s Belonia ‘Mandal’ Partha Chowdhury and Bijan Majumder said that the opposition party workers and supporters had been creating trouble but no action was being taken by the election commission despite complaints. Besides, they complained that the sector officers of the election commission in charge of Belonia had been taking away all posters, festoons, flexes and poll graffitis intentionally, leaving the opposition graffitis aside. The situation was tackled by a force of police and TSR jawans later on.
