Establishment of dental college, fulfillment of a dream despite obstacles on the way, CM

The state government had to cross over lot of hurdles in launching the Agartala Dental College as one MLA had also written to the prime minister’s office pointing out many imaginary shortcomings . But we had successfully navigated the thorny way to establish this college but , nevertheless, we did it successfully . After lot of efforts we established the college and it is now a symbol of new Tripura in the sphere of education , specially medical education . Many experts and inspectors and faculty members visited the college and certified it to be an ideal institution .

Making these observations in the first anniversary function of the Agartala Dental College in the Rabindra Shata Varshiki Bhawan, the chief minister Dr Manik Saha said that the infrastructure built in the college is no lesser than any other dental college in the country. “It is a matter of pride that the Agartala Dental College has already and almost immediately after establishment secured recognition from the Dental Council of India ; it will soon cross newer heights with collective efforts of the highly qualified teachers and competent students of the institution” said Dr Manik Saha.

This college symbolizes the advancement made by the state in the sphere of higher education and will play an important role in educating the students of our state. “We are trying our best to upgrade the dental college to an institution of excellence so that it can play a crucial role in the health service of the state ; we will also try to build up this college into a centre for advanced research and development” said the chief minister. He also said that the union ministry of Doner has already sanctioned Rs 200 crores for development of infrastructure in this college and initiative is being taken to introduce the course of MDS in this college sooner rather than later.

The chief minister also took the occasion to reiterate his commitment to making Tripura a health hub in northeast by building the best possible health infrastructure . “We already have two medical colleges, nursing college , TIPS, RIPSAT ; this will further improve in the days to come as the prime minister Narendra Modi is always serious about the development of entire northeastern region in all spheres ; we are working to the best of our ability to make the prime minister’s dream a success” said Manik.He also referred to the improved status of state’s cancer hospital by upgrading it to the status of a regional institute as also by improving health infrastructure at the district and subdivisional level and asserted that very soon Tripura will emerge as a destination of patients for treatment and cure.
