Cop arrested for looting Betel Nut loaded truck

In a shocking development, a police officer posted at Kanchanpur police station was arrested along with his three accomplices for being involved in the recent incident of looting a truck loaded with betel nuts at Natun Basti area of Kanchanpur. The Kanchanpur bound truck was arriving from Jampui Hills when some miscreants clad in police uniform stopped the truck and looted as many as 36 sacks full of betel nuts from it. The incident sparked tension in the area as the spot of occurrence was just a couple of yards away from the police picket. Soon after the incident an official complaint was lodged with the local police station seeking action against perpetrators. After initial investigation, it was found that Sub Inspector Purna Mog was involved in the offense. A total of four accused persons including Mog were arrested on Sunday night. Before his arrest, North Tripura District Superintendent of Police Bhanupada Chakraborty suspended him from service. Later he was produced in the Court and sent to one day police custody.
