Tension in Mizoram over the vote cunting day

Tension is brewing in Aizwal as the Election Commission has turned down the appeal of certain organizations to defer the vote counting day which falls on December 3, Sunday as it is the prayer day for the Christian-dominated state. According to the Election Commission schedule votes will be counted December 3 in all the five states where the assembly election is being held.

The Mizoram NGO Coordination Committee, a conglomeration of major civic society organisations has decided to send a delegation to Delhi to meet the Election Commission to discuss the matter. It also decided to go for a massive agitation if the commission failed to accept their demand.
