BBMC creates history-First Time SERB-SSR activities hosted by a Government General Degree College

For the first time in the history of general colleges in Tripura the government run Bir Bikram Memorial College (BBMC) hosted two programmes on November 3 and November 6 as part of SERB-SSR (Scientific Social Responsibility) activities. The programmes were held under the banners of ‘School Students Visit Programme’ and ‘Research Facility Training Programme on FTR-IR Spectrometre , Bruker Alpha II E’ respectively and were organized byy BBMC with sponsorship of government of India’s SERB,DST project.

In the ‘school students visit programme’ on November 3 , twenty students from the ten schools , namely, Shishu Bihar HS school, Umakanta Academy english medium school, Netaji Subhas Vidya Niketan, MTV girls HS school, Bodhjung Boys HS school, MGM class XII school, Kamini Kumar Singha memorial HS school, Tripureswari Vidya Mandir, Gandhigram, Barjala HS school, Henry Derozio Academy, along with their guide visited the SERB, DST sponsored research laboratory of BBMC , established in March 2022. The joint director of secondary education Rakesh Debbarma was present as guest of honour in the programme.

“I will never forget the wonderful time I had with the students who are like budding talents in the state and their esteemed guide teachers” said Dr Arijit Das , the programme co-ordinator and principal investigator of the SERB, DST project , BBMC.

As part of the SERB-SSR activity on November 6 the BBMC authority organized ‘one day research facility training programme on FT-IR Spectrometre, Bruker Alpha II E’ under the SERB, DST project sponsored by the government of India. Altogether 15 scholars from NIT, Agartala, ICFAI university and womens polytechnic , Agartala took part in this training programme. The director of higher education N.C.Sharma attended the programme as chief guest and principal of womens college , Agartala Dr Tirtharaj Sen was present as guest of honour. The joint director of higher education Arun Debbarma, OSD of secondary education Siddhartha Sankar Roy and OSD technical education in higher education department Bishwajit Majumder also attended the programme. Several researchers in the training programme received FT-IR training from Dr Paresh Debnath , project associate of SERB, DST project . During the feedback session the FT-IR training participants were asked a number of questions by director of higher education N.C.Sharma . Dr Ratan Deb, principal of BBMC, delivered a speech to wrap up the two events . The dignitaries presented the trainees with their participation certificates at the end of the session.
