Rs 40 thousand donations handed over to poor student Laxman Orang by 3 state government organizations staff

In a humane gesture the commissioner of Taxes and Excise department Rakhi Biswas today donated Rs 40 thouand to impoverished student Laxman Orang of Kalacherra village under Kailasahar subdivision to ensure that the meritorious boy can continue his studies. All the Officers and staff of Taxes and Excise Department and Institutional Finance made their personal contribution for Laxman, total amount was Rs 40,000. This morning Rakhi Biswas, accompanied by office bearers of two others organizations, reached the impoverished home of Laxman Orang and spent some time there speaking to the boy and his old grandmother . After being fully apprised of their actual condition Rakhi gave them Rs 5 thousand in cash and another Rs 35 thousand through bank account. Rakhi and her companions also assured the student and his grand mother that they will stand by them in future also.

Earlier the media of the state had highlighted the pitiable plight of Laxan Orang and his grand mother after the meritorious boy had performed well in ‘Madhyamik’ examination . After the news had caught the attention of the government minister Tinku Roy who had been elected from Chandipur assembly constituency instructed officials of his department to bring Laxman under a government scheme so that he could be given a monthly stipend of Rs 4 thousand and , in addition, sanctioned an old age monthly pension for Laxman’s grand mother within ten days. Besides, many kind-hearted individuals and institutions also extended their assistance to Laxman and his aged grand mother. Having come to know all this the commissioner of taxes and exise department Rakhi Biswas visited the home of Laxman and his grand mother and extended the assistance, promising more.

Reportedly, a few days ago there was a report in the newspaper about Laxman Orang. He lives with his grandmother in Chinibagan area on the way from Kailashahar town to Unakoti. He has no parents. old grandmother and Lakshman has no financial resources. There is not even the slightest shelter to cover the head. Meanwhile, he wants to study. Laxman is a student of an eighth standard at Kalachara School.

After reading this newspaper report, all the officers of the Tax and Excise Department and the Small Savings and Institunal Finance Department came forward and made this donation for Lakshman. The donation money was handed over to Laxman and his grandmother today. Out of a total of forty thousand rupees, five thousand rupees were handed over in cash and the rest to Laxman's bank account. This time the in-charge of Lakshman's school was also present today.
