A section of lawyers in Tripura opposed the vice president of Indiana Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar's statement recentlyon Supreme Court functions. A section of senior lawyers of Tripura Bar Association held a press conference in Agartala on Wednesday regarding this. Senior advocates of the state Sankar Dev, Purushottam Roy Barman, Debranjan Chowdhury, Haribal Debnath and Bhaskar Debvarma were present in the press conference. Speaking at the beginning of the press conference, lawyer Purushottam Roy Barman said that the central government is interfering unnecessarily with the Supreme Court and the judicial system of the country. The Union Law Minister insulted the judges of the highest court of the country. Not only this, the Union Law Minister is asking one after another unwanted questions which he cannot do. On this day, Mr. Roy Barman also said that the Center wants the Supreme Court and the entire judicial system of the country to be under the thumb of the Center, the proof of which has become clear in the speech of the Vice President of the country and Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, Jagdeep Dhankhar. Recently, the Vice President said that the constitution of the country will be developed in the parliament, the judiciary or any other body has no role in it. He challenged the Supreme Court's handling of the law by commenting on the Constitution Bench judgment. The central government has insulted the collegium by blocking the transfer of the Supreme Court. Even the appointment of the next regular Chief Justice of the Tripura High Court, AP Singh, has been blocked by the Center alleging Purushottam Roy Barman. Purushottam Roy Barman said about the appointment of the regular Chief Justice of Tripura High Court today that the separate High Court in Tripura is the result of a long struggle but the current concern is that the High Court is without a regular Chief Justice. After the retirement of Tripura High Court Chief Justice Indrajit Mohanty on November 10, 2022, a full Chief Justice has not yet been appointed. 300 lawyers from the entire state submitted a memorandum to the Governor informing about this. Then the Center did not accept the recommendation of Justice AP Singh even though it was named. It was then said that the Chief Justice would be appointed after the retirement of Justice Jaswant Singh. That promise remains unfulfilled. Purushottam Roy Barman said that he will inform to the matter to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court on Wednesday to quickly appoint Justice AP Singh as the Chief Justice of the Tripura High Court.
