Road blockade at Atharamura demanding drinking water, withdrawn after assurance

Despite the tall claim of the government about ensuring pipeline water to every house, many areas still suffering from a shortage of drinking water and people are demonstrating demanding proper supply. The residents o Atharamura ADC Village under the Mungiyakami block staged a road blockade movement at 43 miles.

They were alleging that several villages like Dhanbilash Para, Tripura Basti, and Raihamcha cluster villages are facing serious drinking water crises. There is a pump machine to supply drinking water in the area but it is not working for the last several days.

Receiving the information about the road blockade, the police rushed to the spot and tried to pacify the agitating people but failed. Ultimately the engineer of the Drinking Water Supply Department went to the area and assured the people of supplying drinking water twice a day.
