As predicted in a news in this portal yesterday, the union minister of state for social justice and empowerment Pratima Bhowmik has resigned her seat from the state assembly by submitting a formal letter to the Protem speaker Benoy Bhusan Das today. While submitting her letter Pratima was accompanied by the new agriculture minister Ratan Lal Nath, advocate general Sasanka Sekhar De and other leaders of the party. Pratima had been elected from the Dhanpur assembly seat in Sonamura subdivision in the assembly election. She did not spell out the exact reasons for her early resignation in conversation with the media but sources in BJP said that Pratima , a contender for chief ministership, had expected to be appointed deputy chief minister but this was not approved by the party’s central leadership. She chose to retain her central ministership and membership of Loksabha .

Apart from this, the deputy leader of ruling ‘Tipra Motha’ in ADC and former INPT MLA Animesh Debbarma and executive member Chitta Debbarma resigned their seats in the ADC where they had been elected in the year 2021. Sources in the ‘Motha’ said that Animesh is likely to be the leader of ‘Tipra Motha’ legislature party as well as the leader of the opposition as ‘Tipra Motha’ with its tally of thirteen seats is the single largest party in the assembly this time.
