Revenue minister and IPFT president N.C.Debbarma breathes his last

The revenue minister of the state government and veteran IPFT president Narendra Chandra Debbarma (87) breathed his last this morning , defeating all efforts of the doctors in GBP hospital to resuscitate him . He is survived by his wife and five children. The veteran leader of Tripura’s tribal politics N.C.Debbarma had suffered a massive brain stroke on Thursday night and was admitted to GBP hospital in a critical condition . He was given the best possible medical care and put through a complex brain operation by a team of doctors led by renowned neuro surgeon Dr Siddha Reddy on Friday and was put in ICU . Even though there was glimmer of hope of his survival , advanced age and other geriatric ailments put paid to his chances of survival and he breathed his last this morning , confirming the worst fears of doctors.

A former director of AIR , Agartala, N.C.Debbarma had been closely associated with the erstwhile TUJS since its launching in 1967 and then broke and formed many parties like TTNC, IPFT, INPT and then IPFT again . He was instrumental in forging an electoral alliance between IPFT and BJP that came to power in 2018 elections and he became the revenue minister.

Many senior leaders of state politics including chief minister Dr Manik Saha, deputy chief minister Jishnu Debbarma, CPI (M) state secretary Jiten Chowdhury and leader of the opposition Manik Sarkar have condoled the death of veteran N.C.Debbarma. He will paid last respects in the state secretariat, state assembly and cremated with full state honours in his native place north Maharanipur under Teliamura subdivision.
