State’s first film institute to be inaugurated on November 28

The first film institute of the state is going to be inaugurated on November 28 beside the Nazrul Kala Kshetra in presence of Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha. Minister for Information and Cultural Affairs Sushanta Choudhury visited the proposed site of the institute and supervised the preparations.

The information department is building up the institute in collaboration with the Satyajit Roy Film Institute of Kolkata. A team of experts from Satyajit Roy Film Institute has already visited the place and found it satisfactory. The authority has set up some additional facilities as per the recommendation of the expert team.

Sushanta Choudhury said the institute will start its journey with a short-term course and subsequently, diploma and degree courses also will be introduced. MLA Biplab Ghosh and the secretary of the department also was with the minister during the visit.
