Theft in the house of journalist, gold ornaments and cash Rs 60 thousand stolen

After a temporary pause incidents of theft in households have started with renewed vigour. A gang of thieves yesterday targeted the residence of a journalist couple, Rajesh Shil, a former employee of a local newspaper and his TV anchor wife Jhumu Sutradhar in Bankumari Renters colony area of southeastern Agartala. Police sources said that the couple had left home around 6-30 in the evening but after dropping his wife Jhumu in her TV channel office Rajesh Shil returned home within half an hour to see the gate of the house locked up but the doors of his room open.

Having entered the room he found the lockers open and the entire bunch of gold ornaments of his wife and cash Rs 60 thousand missing. Rajesh had drawn the amount to repair his house. He filed a complaint with the College Tilla police outpost but no one has been arrested so far in connection with the theft.
