In yet another big blow to the ruling BJP in tribal politics, the party’s former state vice president and incumbent chairman of the Bogafa block advisory committee (BAC) Gauri Shankar Reang is all set to join the ‘Tipra Motha’ with his followers soon. Taking a significant step in this direction Gauri Shankar , accompanied by a number of his followers , yesterday called at ‘Motha’ chief Pradyot Kishore in the royal Ujjayanata palace and was warmly welcomed by the ‘Tipra Motha’ supremo.

Sources close to both the camps said that the two leaders discussed the nitty gritty of joining and it was decided that Gauri Shankar will organise a rally at his home constituency Santir Bazar and it is in that rally that he himself as well as his followers will formally join the ‘Tipra Motha’ by formally accepting the party flag.

Gauri Shankar, once an officer in the state government, had been elected as MLA of Congress from the Santir Bazar assembly constituency in the year 1988 and had been made deputy speaker. But since then he had never won an assembly election. After spending many years in Congress he had joined Trinamool but soon quit to join BJP before the 2018 assembly election. He was made vice president of the party but hardly got any importance and was sidelined. He was reportedly upset the ‘Jana Jati Morcha’ was never consulted on any important issue by the party. His joining of ‘Tipra Motha’ will deal a heavy blow to BJP in Santir Bazar assembly constituency, sources in BJP said..
