A decision has been taken to hold protest marches and gatherings in various sub-divisions/blocks/districts of Tripura state as part of the nationwide movement against the extreme sufferings of the Communist Party of India (Marxist).

As part of that decision, a rally was organized on September 21 in Udaipur city on the call of the party. On the way to the gathering, some BJP-sponsored anti-social elements brutally attacked the tribal people from Killa in front of the Udaipur Girls School. As per CPIM statement, 16 comrades were injured.

It was alleged that, the police played the role of silent spectators during the attacks by some BJP-backed miscreants. The State Secretariat of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has strongly condemned the brutal attack organized by the BJP on its way to participate in the meeting of the poor. At the same time criticizing the role of the police.

On September 20, BJP miscreants attacked the regional meeting of the Krishaksabha in Chhet Khil area of ??Sabroom sub-division. Some CPIM suporters were injured in the attack and forced to come to the hospital. When the people present came forward to defend themselves, the miscreants fled. The BJP leadership filed false cases against the CPI(M) sub-divisional leadership and workers in the wake of the Cheet Khil incident. Instead of taking action against the assailants, the police became overly active and conducted house-to-house searches with false cases against the victims.

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) called upon the peace-loving people of the state to join the struggle for the restoration of democratic rights in the state.
