Attack on the houses of two CPI (M) supporters in Bhattapukur area by BJP-sheltered mafia elements

The politically depredations of notorious anti-social and mafia elements affiliated with the ruling BJP have been continuing almost all over the state. However, fear of retaliation and treatment with same medicine act as deterrent to the hoodlums of the ruling party in their goonery initiative in hilly interiors dominated by tribals . But the mafia elements seem to be entrenching themselves even in Agartala town in the run-up to the assembly elections with the state police acting as silent collaborators.

In their latest depredation a gang of politically sponsored mafia elements wreaked havoc in front of the residences of two CPI (M) supporters on Thursday midnight near the ‘Apan Jan’ club in the Bhattapukur area. Sources from the area said that on Thursday midnight the gang of BJP-affiliated Mafia elements reached the front side of the residences of Gautam Nandi and Amal Ghosh started stone pelting besides hurling invectives at the inmates of the house. They tried to break through the iron gates of the houses but failed and kept up their stone-pelting and abusive utterances, asserting that nobody will be allowed to work for the CPI (M). Sources said that Gautam Nandi is a computer operator in the residence of the CPI (M)’s party organ ‘Daily Desher Katha’ besides being a party supporter while Amal Ghosh is a worker of the party. The attack on Thursday midnight has triggered a panic in the entire Bhattapukur area and residents there are planning to organise themselves for resistance.

Yesterday in the morning a delegation of CPI (M) leaders headed by senior leader Pabitra Kar and comprising leaders like Sankar Prasad Dutta, Jharna Das Baidya, Ratan Das, Narayan Deb, Samar Chakraborty, Swapna Dutta, Srijan Deb,Bijan Chowdhury, Shekhar Bhattacharjee, Nikhil Das and Sudip Paul visited the homes of Gautam Nandi and Amal Ghosh . They assured the family members of the two workers that the party will support them in all dangers.
