JP NADDA VISITS LK ADVANI AT DELHI HOSPITAL

New Delhi, Oct 17, 2026 : Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda on Saturday visited veteran Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Deputy Prime Minister L.K. Advani at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital in New Delhi and enquired about his health.

The 98-year-old leader was admitted to the hospital’s pulmonary department at around 7.30 p.m. on Friday after developing a chest infection.

According to hospital officials, Advani’s condition is stable, and he remains under medical observation while doctors conduct necessary tests.

The veteran BJP leader has been hospitalised several times in recent years due to health-related complications.

He was previously admitted to Apollo Hospital in May this year for age-related health issues and was discharged after receiving treatment for a few days.

In December 2024, Advani was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of Indraprastha Apollo Hospital for medical management and investigations. He was treated under the supervision of a neurologist, with hospital authorities describing his condition as stable at the time.

Born on November 8, 1927, in Karachi, now in Pakistan, Advani is among the BJP’s most prominent founding leaders and played a significant role in transforming the party into a major national political force.

He served as BJP president on several occasions and was instrumental in expanding the party’s organisational network across the country.

His Ram Rath Yatra in 1990 marked a significant turning point in Indian politics and contributed to the BJP’s growing political influence.

Advani served as India’s Deputy Prime Minister from 2002 to 2004 in the government led by then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He also held several key portfolios, including Home Affairs, during his political career.

In recognition of his contribution to public life, Advani was conferred the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honour, in 2024. He was earlier awarded the Padma Vibhushan in 2015.

Advani remains one of the most influential figures in the BJP’s political history.
