Mizoram explores more job opportunities for Mizo youths in Japan
New Delhi, Oct 10, 2026 : The Mizoram government is exploring more opportunities to send more youths from the state for employment in Japan as the state government seeks to deepen its partnership with the East Asian country, an official said today.
Representatives of KTC Group Japan led by its Director Yamazaki Tomohiro called on Chief Minister Lalduhoma yesterday here where they discussed skill development, overseas employment opportunities for Mizo youths and collaboration under the state government’s proposed Blue Mizoram Mission, an official in the CMO said. Lalduhoma informed the group that around 100 youths from Mizoram are currently working in Japan, and they are reportedly satisfied with their jobs.
He also highlighted the ongoing initiatives of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Mizoram and other northeastern states under the cooperation between the Indian and Japanese governments. Stressing the need to strengthen ties with Japan, Lalduhoma said that the state government had recently constituted a Working Committee on Japan-Mizoram Partnership in the Chief Minister’s Office to explore wider avenues for cooperation.
The discussion also covered possible collaboration in augmentation of fish production in Mizoram under the the proposed Blue Mizoram Mission besides opportunities for skill development and facilitating employment for more youths from Mizoram, the official said.
The KTC Group began operations in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture in Japan in April 1972, initially manufacturing educational materials, according to officials. It has since expanded to 67 companies, employing more than 6,500 people worldwide, they said.
