Arunachal Pradesh CM calls for concerted efforts to expand coffee cultivation
New Delhi, Oct 04, 2026 : Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has called for concerted efforts to expand coffee cultivation in the state, improve productivity and bean quality, and enhance farmers’ incomes through a stronger value chain.
Addressing the ‘Hills to Cup’ Coffee Workshop organised by the Coffee Board of India and the state Agriculture Department, Mr Khandu said coffee cultivation had existed in Arunachal for nearly five decades but its potential remained underutilised. He said the state currently has around 600 hectares under coffee cultivation and stressed the need for technical support, policy interventions and value addition.
Mr Khandu said the government would follow up on the workshop’s recommendations and extend support to growers. He also encouraged young entrepreneurs to explore coffee cultivation, processing and related enterprises, particularly with the state’s growing tourism sector.
