Tripura Transport Minister addresses ‘Good Samaritan’ Programme

New Delhi, Sep 30, 2026 : Tripura Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said that the sense of humanitarian responsibility shown by those who come forward to save human lives serves as an inspiration to society. He was speaking at a ‘Rahveer’ or ‘Good Samaritan’ programme organised by the Transport Department at the Secretariat today.

The minister said that the greatest expression of humanity is standing by people in times of crisis. He said helping an injured person involved in a road accident by promptly taking them to a hospital and assisting in saving their life is not merely a sense of duty, but also an outstanding example of humanity.

At the programme, the Transport Minister presented a cash award of Rs. 25,000 and certificates to ‘Rahveer’ or ‘Good Samaritan’ awardees who played an important role in saving the lives of road accident victims by ensuring their prompt transportation to hospitals. The awards were presented to Kajal Debnath, Prasenjit Bhowmik, Ashesh Das, Khurshid Mia, Ajit Das, Satyajit Kumar Shil, Satyaranjan Debnath and Latika Sinha.
