Over 100 crore people receive social security coverage: Union Minister

New Delhi, Sep 28, 2026 : Union Labour and Employment Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya today said that over one hundred crore people in the country receive social security coverage. This includes five lakh rupees health security coverage for over 60 crore citizens, ESIC health security for 25 crore people, free grains to over 80 crore people and financial assistance to farmers and women. The Minister was addressing the National Conference on Industrial Relations and Labour and Awards in New Delhi. Dr Mandaviya said that the Government is working to sustain the growth of industries as well as promote the welfare of workers for sustainable development of the country. He also called on all stakeholders to work together to emerge as a developed nation till 2047. Dr Mandaviya also urged both industry and workers to progress together as partners in nation-building. Highlighting the vast scope of AI, the Minister stressed on the need to equip India’s youth with new-age skills in AI, automation, robotics and other cutting-edge technologies.
