Assam remembers Zubeen Garg

New Delhi, Sep 19, 2026 : Assam is remembering iconic singer, composer, and cultural figure Zubeen Garg on his first death anniversary today. Various events and programmes are being organised across the state to pay tribute to the artist whose music continues to resonate with millions of people.

The state has also been observing a three-day Zubeen Divas since September 17. Thousands of admirers have gathered at Zubeen Kshetra in Sonapur near Guwahati, where the legendary singer was cremated, to offer their respects and celebrate his enduring legacy.

During his 33-year musical career, Zubeen Garg recorded over 40,000 songs across nearly 40 languages and dialects, reflecting his remarkable versatility and wide appeal.

Zubeen Garg passed away in Singapore on September 19, 2025. Widely regarded as one of Assam’s most influential musical personalities, he left an indelible mark on Assamese music and culture through his contributions as a singer, composer, lyricist, actor, and filmmaker.
