National engineers’ day
New Delhi, Sep 15, 2026 : National Engineers’ Day is being celebrated today to honour the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, one of India’s greatest engineers. The day is celebrated every year on 15th September to remember Visvesvaraya’s contributions and honour the role of engineers in the nation’s growth.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tributes to M Visvesvaraya on his birth anniversary. In a social media post, Mr Modi said that M. Visvesvaraya was an engineering genius whose nation-building vision continues to inspire citizens. The Prime Minister extended his greetings to engineers for their contributions to building, innovating, and providing solutions for a better tomorrow.
In a social media post, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that M Visvesvaraya’s life remains an enduring example of excellence, discipline, innovation and public service. Mr Singh added that his extraordinary contribution to India’s nation-building journey will always be remembered.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that M Visvesvaraya’s remarkable contributions played a crucial role in nation-building. Extending greetings to engineers, the Home Minister said that their relentless innovations drive India’s progress through perpetual growth.
