PM meets CWG 2026 medal winners

New Delhi, Aug 10, 2026 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the medallists of the Commonwealth Games 2026 at his residence in New Delhi yesterday. During the interaction, the medal winners shared their experiences from the Games with the Prime Minister. Mr Modi emphasised that prestige is not gained merely by cutting ribbons but by playing with the spirit of a young student or an aspiring athlete. He encouraged the athletes to enhance the prestige of ‘Khelo India’. Talking to weightlifter Saikhom Mirabai Chanu, the Prime Minister said that her victory serves as a tremendous inspiration for future generations.

Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Raksha Nikhli Khadse were present on the occasion. India finished at the 4th spot on the medal table during the games held between 23rd July and the 2nd of this month at Glasgow in Scotland. Indian athletes won 39 medals, including 13 Gold, 17 silver and nine bronze across various sports.
