IMD predicts extremely heavy rainfall over Assam and Meghalaya

New Delhi, Aug 04, 2026 : The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red colour warning for very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall over Assam and Meghalaya for tomorrow. Heavy rainfall is also expected over Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar, and parts of North East India during the next two days. Similar weather conditions are expected over Kerala, Mahe, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Uttar Pradesh during the next two to three days.

The Met Department also predicted thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds over Jammu-Kashmir, Andhra Pradesh, Karaikal, Karnataka, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands tomorrow.

Meanwhile parts of Delhi witnessed rainfall today. The IMD predicted a generally cloudy sky with a spell of moderate rain at a few places of the national capital during early morning tomorrow. According to the Weather Agency, the maximum temperature will be around 32 to 34 degrees Celsius in Delhi while the minimum temperature will hover around 23 to 25 degrees Celsius tomorrow.
