Notorious criminal Lalan Singh killed

New Delhi, Jun 22, 2026 : In Uttar Pradesh, notorious criminal Lalan Singh, carrying a combined bounty of one lakh 25 thousand rupees, was killed in an encounter with the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force, STF, in Saharanpur last night. Police said the shootout took place on the Sarsawa-Nakur Road. A resident of Samastipur district in Bihar, Lalan Singh was wanted in several serious criminal cases, including the shooting of a Sub-Inspector and robbery of his service pistol in Varanasi, and a firing-cum-robbery case in Chandauli district.

According to STF, he and his associates were involved in multiple heinous crimes, including murders, bank dacoities, cash-van robberies and looting of government firearms.

During the encounter, Singh sustained gunshot injuries and was taken to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead. A reward of one lakh rupees had been announced by Varanasi Police and 25 thousand rupees by Chandauli Police for his arrest. One of his associates escaped, and efforts are on to trace him.
