West Bengal police freezes three bank accounts of TMC
New Delhi, Jun 20, 2026 : Based on complaints filed by ten rebel legislators of the Trinamool Congress, the West Bengal police have frozen three bank accounts of the party. TMC leaders claimed that the move has affected routine financial transactions and accused the authorities of using investigative agencies for political purposes. They have demanded immediate restoration of access to the accounts.
Meanwhile, Trinamool Congress spokesperson Kunal Ghosh has spoken out against the rebel legislators. Mr Ghosh said that the legislators contested elections and won using money from the party’s accounts. He questioned why they accepted the funds if the accounts were illegal.
Mr Ghosh also raised the issue of whether legislative positions won with money from an allegedly illegal account can themselves be considered valid.
