IMD issues rain and thunderstorm forecast for several regions

New Delhi, Jun 19, 2026 : India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall today at isolated places over Assam, Meghalaya, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim. Moderate to heavy rainfall is also expected over Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal during the day. According to the Met Department, thunderstorms accompanied by hailstorms are expected today over Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Muzaffarabad and Uttarakhand.

Places over Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Telangana, West Bengal and Sikkim are likely to witness thunderstorms and gusty winds today. IMD said thunder squalls are likely over parts of Bihar, Rajasthan, Odisha, Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh. Meanwhile, heatwave conditions are expected to persist today over Maharashtra, Telangana and Uttar Pradesh. Andhra Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, Konkan, Goa and Odisha are likely to experience hot and humid weather conditions today.
