HPV vaccination drive crosses 50 lakh doses in three months : MoHFW

New Delhi, Jun 19, 2026 : Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has said that the nationwide Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination drive has achieved nearly 50 lakh doses in just three months. The achievement reflects unprecedented scale, urgency and commitment to safeguarding young lives. In a social media post, the Ministry said that the campaign has gained strong momentum, with Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat achieving 100 per cent coverage and Mizoram reaching 93 per cent of its target population.

It added that this progress highlights the robustness of India’s public health system and the tireless efforts of frontline health workers across the country. The Ministry highlighted that backed by global scientific evidence, including findings published in The Lancet demonstrating a dramatic reduction in cervical cancer incidence and precancerous lesions following HPV vaccination, India’s drive stands firmly on proven impact. The Ministry said that it is more than a vaccination campaign: it is prevention at scale, protection for an entire generation, and a decisive step towards a cervical cancer-free India.
