NEARLY 16 LAKH CANDIDATES DOWNLOAD NEET-UG 2026 RE-EXAM ADMIT CARDS

New Delhi, Jun 18, 2026 : The National Testing Agency (NTA) said that nearly 16 lakh candidates have successfully downloaded their admit cards for the NEET (UG) 2026 re-examination, scheduled to be held on June 21, as authorities intensify preparations to ensure the smooth and secure conduct of one of the country’s largest entrance examinations.

In a significant relief for candidates, the NTA has simplified the admit card download process by allowing aspirants to access their hall tickets without first completing bank account verification, a requirement that had previously created difficulties for some students.

The admit cards for the re-examination were released on June 14. According to the agency, several candidates had approached the NTA stating that they were unable to complete their account details and verification procedures due to various reasons, which prevented them from downloading their admit cards.

Responding to these concerns, the NTA has now enabled all registered candidates to download their admit cards directly through the official website using their login credentials and one of the available authentication options.

Candidates can either download their admit cards immediately and complete the review and confirmation of their bank account details for the examination fee refund process at a later stage, or they may choose to verify their bank details first and then proceed with downloading the admit card.

Clarifying the revised procedure in a post on X, the NTA assured students that delayed bank verification would not affect their eligibility for the examination fee refund process.

“If you were unable to download your admit card earlier because of pending bank details, you can now download your admit card immediately, complete bank account verification later, and still remain eligible for the examination fee refund process,” the agency said.

The NTA has urged candidates to download their admit cards at the earliest and carefully verify all details, including examination centre, reporting time and personal information. Students have also been advised to keep at least two printed copies of the admit card ready for the examination day.

“Download your admit card today and keep both the printed copies ready for exam day. Best wishes to all NEET 2026 aspirants,” the agency said.

Candidates facing difficulties while downloading their admit cards have been asked to contact the NTA through its helpline numbers, 011-40759000 and 011-69227700, or send their queries via email to [email protected]. The agency has also advised aspirants to regularly check the official NTA and NEET websites for the latest updates and notifications related to the examination.

Meanwhile, elaborate security arrangements have been put in place ahead of the re-examination. In a major logistical exercise, the Indian Air Force has transported question papers to 18 locations across the country to ensure secure and timely delivery of examination materials.

Officials said the use of Air Force aircraft forms part of a comprehensive strategy to prevent any lapses in the handling and transportation of question papers and to ensure that examination materials reach designated distribution centres under strict security protocols.

The NTA, working in coordination with multiple government agencies, has established a multi-layered security framework for the conduct of the re-examination. Security personnel, local administration officials and law enforcement agencies have been deployed to oversee the transportation, storage and distribution of question papers and other examination materials.

Authorities have also identified sensitive examination centres and placed them under enhanced surveillance. Additional monitoring systems and strict security measures have been introduced to prevent tampering, unauthorized access or any attempts to disrupt the examination process.

The re-examination follows the cancellation of the original NEET-UG 2026 examination conducted on May 3 after allegations of a question paper leak. The upcoming test will be held in a single shift from 2:00 PM to 5:15 PM, with an additional 15 minutes allocated to facilitate administrative procedures.

Given the scale of the examination and the large number of candidates expected to participate, authorities are focusing on coordinated efforts involving education officials, security agencies and local administrations to ensure the re-test is conducted in a fair, transparent and incident-free manner.

NEET-UG remains the gateway for admission to undergraduate medical courses across India and is one of the largest competitive examinations in the country. With nearly 16 lakh candidates already having downloaded their admit cards and extensive security arrangements in place, the NTA is aiming to restore confidence in the examination process and ensure a smooth conduct of the June 21 re-examination.
